3rd February 2012

Worcester Wolves U12s Girls took the fight to Hereford U12s, but the Hereford team proved marginally too strong, winning 17-13. After an exciting match which was neck and neck throughout, Wolves coach, Sarah Lewis, was pleased with her team's performance, particularly Keiram and Sian Bassan. Hereford's coach, Steve Farmer, felt that Vasco Felix's passing and vision were instrumental in their success. Tom Hodgson was Hereford's top scorer on the night.

Worcester Wolves U12s Boys ran out comfortable winners against St. Joseph's. Tom and Matthew Anning put in good performances for the Wolves, whilst Finlay and Josh Walker played well for St. Joseph's, and Summer Hanning will not forget scoring on her debut.

Wolves U14s Boys won with something in hand against Hereford U14s, reversing November's result. The Wolves coach named Keaton Jones man of the match, and praised his team's strong defence which secured the win. Whilst the Hereford coach admired the all-round ability of Macaulay Owens, he lamented the lack of pace from his players which, he said, lost them the game.

Big Sky Basketball U14s of West Bromwich maintained their position at the top of the table with a convincing win over Wolves U14s Girls. The Big Sky coach was pleased with his team's performance and felt that Harrison Budd's offensive skills and intelligent passing played a big part in their victory. The Wolves Girls coach was dissapointed with their loss, but was pleased that having had such a good game for the U12s, the Bassan girls, Keiram and Sian, put in another great performance against U14s league leaders, Big Sky.

Solihull team Arden Griffins U16s remain league leaders with a 46-33 win over Hereford 1. The stand-out player for Arden was Ryan Turner. He converted his free throws and rebounded well. Despite a valiant effort from Hereford and the all-round skills of George Burke, they stay in 3rd place in the league.

31-29 was the narrow margin which prevented Wolves U16s going level on points at the head of the table. In yet another pulsating U16s game, the Wolves trailed early to Hereford 2 and then surged late to finish one score from victory. Whilst Keiran Henry-Fellows showed leadership and good offensive skills, it was not enough to stop the Hereford side for whom the outstanding performances came from George Hodgson and Tom Bayliss.

The next league night of the season is 2nd March.
