WorcWolves Newsflash 2010/11 Season: Number 3 – 11 May 2010
Big Coup for Wolves’ Head Coach PJ Signs Rod Middleton for 2010/11!
Wolves Head coach Paul James is delighted to have secured the signature of influential point guard Rod Middleton, who will be back with the Wolves next season. PJ commented, "Bringing Rod back was always going to be one of my most important signings for the new season. He was my on court coach and controlled the tempo of the game really well. Rod is a winner and a very good leader. He also proved himself to be one of the very best point guards in the league making the BBL Team of the Week three times; it's great to have him back." Rod played for the Buffalo Bulls with Danny Gilbert, joining the Bulls a year after Gilbert and going on to beat Danny’s playing record, appearing in 122 games. In his senior year he averaged 12 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He recorded an impressive 79% from the free throw line and 41% from long range. His professional career saw him play in both the German Pro A League for MBC and prior to that for Clermont in the French Pro A. Middleton ranked 8th in the BBL scoring stats for 2009/10 with 19.6 points per game; third in free throws with an 83.8% success rate; 8th in assists with 4.5 per game and top in steals with 2.7 per game! He played in 23 of the 25 Wolves games since the New Year averaging 37.3 minutes per game; 41.6% success from 3-point range and 5.3 rebounds per game. 2010/11 season ticket information to follow later this week … watch out for it!
